Dare 2 Magazine, the online eco lifestyle magazine covering topics in fashion, beauty, travel and more, recently interviewed Kailique Online Boutique owner Cindy Giammattei, about the eco friendly lines we feature in our Green Collection. We are excited about the next months to come as we add more fashion, jewellery and accessories collections that support sustainable and ethical initiatives.

An interview with the founder of the new online shopping site, Cindy Giammattei

Why did you decided to start Kailique?

I’ve always been inspired by independent boutiques and for a long time have had an interest in starting up my own retail business.  I love that feeling of discovering a gorgeous, unique piece by an up-and-coming, hard-to-find designer and that’s what I’m looking to offer our customers at Kailique. California was a good starting point for us as there’s a lot of great talent currently not available in the UK.

What makes it different from any other online shopping site?

Kailique offers that intimate, personal feeling customers expect from their favourite boutique along with the benefits and convenience of shopping from the comfort of their own home. We look for wearable collections that could complement most any wardrobe, and each designer we select is passionate about creating high quality pieces that are also a great value for money.

Why did you decide to bring on EcoSkin?

When selecting brands for Kailique, I knew I wanted to include eco-friendly brands in what we call our “Green Collection”, as I myself believe in a sustainable lifestyle and that everyone should do what they can to protect the environment. Los Angeles based ecoSkin Collections ticks all the boxes for what I have in mind for Kailique’s Green Collection. Sandy Skinner, the designer of ecoSkin, looks to offer women stylish clothing that fit a responsible, green lifestyle, and she has succeeded in creating a brand that is wearable and fashionable, yet ethical and sustainable.

Do you have other eco clothing lines on Kailique?

Yes, we also carry juleselin Organics, a beautiful knitwear linedesigned by Julia Burnbaum in San Francisco. juleselin offers classic, feminine coats and jackets made with very cosy organic cotton fabrics and using low impact dyes. I personally wear the juleselin Brooke jacket all the time. We have plans to continue to expand our Green Collection, with a selection of ethical, eco friendlyjewellery and accessories lines coming soon to our online boutique this season, plus new fashion lines available in Autumn.

Why did you chose EcoSkin? Because it was eco or because it was fashionable?

I chose ecoSkin because it is a brilliant blend of both and proves that women can be stylish and fashionable while also socially responsible.

Do you think the average customer is interested in how ethical or eco a fashion label is?

I do believe consumers are beginning to shift in their way of thinking and understand that by demanding responsibly-produced eco-friendly products, they can make a difference in people’s lives and our environment. We still have a long way to go, which is why I want to do my part to support and promote ethical, eco-friendly labels.

Is it important to you that a brand fashion label is ethical?

Yes, it is very important to me. I believe that everyone deserves fair pay, safe working conditions and a healthy environment to live in, and I expect all of my suppliers to adhere to the appropriate labour and health regulations.

What is your favourite trend of the season?

I love this season’s bold colours – the corals, regatta blues and tangerines.

What new designers will you have next season?

I’d like to keep that a surprise for now but promise an exciting batch of new designers that will make great additions to our online boutique.

What can we look forward to with Kailique?

We will continue to expand our offering to include more independent fashion, jewellery and accessories designers from around the world – designers that provide an individual style with a unique story to tell that support their local communities or charitable causes through their work. Style and wearability will always be important to us, as is providing a meaningful, enriching online shopping experience.
